STUDY AREA
SponBIODIV study areas will span a wide range of biogeographic realms, from the Arctic to temperate and tropical North and South Atlantic, and will include ecosystems ranging from coastal to mesophotic areas on continental margins to deep-sea areas on offshore seamounts and ridge systems.
The goal is to assemble the most comprehensive dataset on the distribution of sponges and sponge habitats across the Atlantic and Mediterranean. This dataset will integrate pre-existent data and data collected by project partners in yet under-represented areas.
